Week 9 Socon Power Rankings

Well it's time for my first ever Socon Power Rankings. I will call them by the normal weeks starting this week at Week 9:

Courtesy Soconsports.com
1) College of Charleston (10-3, 2-0): Hard to knock the Cougars this week with a close home loss to George Mason. This team is still the best in the conference up to this point.

2) Davidson (8-4, 2-0): Good rebound over Penn after losing to UMass. It is clear that Davidson is one of the top 2 ball clubs in the conference right now.

3) Western Carolina (7-7, 2-0): Resounding win over a quality ball team in UNC-Asheville, but to beat them by 19 is pretty impressive. The loss to NC State shouldn't be held against them to much after all the series between the two schools is all NCSU in 14 meetings.

4) Elon (7-5,2-0): This may confuse some people, however, the Pheonix have loss 3 straight and haven't won a game since Dec. 11. The loss to UNC is forgivable but a loss to Dartmouth, last place team in the Ivy League, is a head scratcher.

5) Wofford (7-6, 1-1): Mike Young's team played hard in a loss to intrastate rival South Carolina. They will look to rebound against Wake Forest, an upset isn't out of the question.

6) Chattanooga (6-8, 0-2): Winners of 4 of their past 5 games and the only loss was to Kentucky, and no one is complaining. They face a tough test this week against Tennessee, who trashed the Citadel by 31 last week.

7) Appalachian State (5-7, 1-1): The 30 point loss at Miami can't be looked at too harshly. This weeks conference schedule should go along way in determining whether or not the Mountaineers can turn things around.

8) Furman (6-8, 0-2): Losing 3 straight games and no conference wins will land you in the bottom third of the conference. The with losses to UNC-Wilmington and Presbyterian in the losing skid the Paladins are heading in the wrong direction.

9) Georgia Southern (3-8, 2-0): In the midst of a four game losing streak, however, all is not lost. The Eagles put in a great effort at Auburn almost pulling off the upset 78-75.

10) Samford (3-9, 0-1): The Bulldogs had a rough week with losses to Sam Houston State and Maryland. They gave a good effort against Maryland and can look to turn things around this week with game against App St. and The Citadel.

11) UNCG (2-12, 0-3): A team still trying to find itself after losing its coach. Interim coach Wes Miller has his hands full in Greensboro. This team looks to be a bottom dweller with...

12) Citadel (2-10, 0-2): The only reason I have them below UNCG, really its a toss up, is because UNCG is playing with effort. The Citadel has not won a game in over a month. Hopefully they can turn things around a fast or it's going to be a long season for Bulldog fans.
