Week 9 Fearless Forecast

Tonight is the first night we start back up the SOCON so we will get started with the Fearless Forecast:

*The Citadel (3-10, 0-2) at Furman (6-7, 0-2) 7PM: Furman should have little trouble dispatching the Bulldogs tonight. The Citadel has yet to win a road game this year. Furman should get back on the winning track with their balanced scoring in Greenville. Result: Furman 71 Citadel 60

*Georgia Southern (4-8, 2-0) at Elon (7-5, 2-0) 7PM: This was almost the upset pick of the week until I factored in the fact that Elon has not lost at home this year (impressive). Georgia Southern is a road tested team and should challenge the Pheonix but Elon should pull one out late in this one.
Result: Elon 68 GSU 62

*Davidson (8-4, 2-0) at UNCG (2-13, 0-3) 7:00PM: Wes Miller will have his troops ready to play after a fantastic road effort at Miami. Considering the type of season UNCG has had to this point a 10 point loss to Miami is nothing to lower their heads on. They should give a great effort tonight but Davidson is a great traveling team (ie. Kansas game) and should pull out the W. Result: Davidson 78 UNCG 69

*Coll. of Charleston (10-3, 2-0) at Wofford (8-6, 1-1) 7:00PM: The game of the week. This big showdown. South Carolina's largest game tonight will be Spartanburg. I look for Wofford to come out early and play their slow paced style. Charleston will look to push the tempo and let their playmakers go to work. With home-court advantage and good defense I like Wofford in this one. Result: Wofford 68 CofC 64

*Western Carolina (7-7, 2-0) at Chattanooga (6-9, 0-2) 7PM: In a North Division showdown Chattanooga will be look to notch its first conference win of the season against a young Catamount squad. Chattanooga has looked good in winning 3 of its last 4 games by an average of 35 points. WCU will be look to rebound from a forgetful game at NCSU. I look for the game to be close but the Mocs should prevail in McKenzie Arena.
Result: Chatt 75 WCU 70

*Appalachian St. (5-7, 1-1) at Samford (3-9, 0-1) 8PM: Appalachian State comes in losers of 5 of its last 6 and Samford hasn't really beaten anyone this season. Something has to give tonight in Birmingham and that will be Samford. Appalachian State has too much fire power for the Bulldogs to pull this one off. Omar Carter can shoot the lights out when he wants to and Andre Williams has come on strong as of late garnering SOCON Player of the Week accolades. Samford does not have that many playmakers to win this one.
Result: ASU 74 Samford 61
