Fearless Forecast Week 9-Weekend

After the first round of games in conference play I went 5-1 only missing on the Elon-Georgia Southern game. As the weekend has arrived so has a new slate of games. Here are the predictions:

*College of Charleston (10-4, 2-1) @ Furman (7-7, 1-2) 2:30PM: Charleston comes in riding the emotional loss to rival Wofford in which they didn't play particularly well. Furman comes in riding a 77-45 blowout win against Citadel. Momentum tells us Furman should get the win here. However, I feel Bobby Cremins will have his boys ready to play today. Result: CofC 78 Furman 71

*Georgia Southern (5-8, 3-0) @ Davdison (9-4, 3-0): In a game that features the number 1 and 2 teams in the South Division (conf. record wise) we shall finally see some separation to today. The winner of this game will stand alone as the leader of the South Division. Georgia Southern stole a win on the road at North Division leader Elon. Can they do it again in Davidson? No. Bob McKillop's team is playing the best basketball in the SOCON right now. Wildcats take this one.
  Result: Davidson 74 GSU 62

*Wofford (9-6, 2-1) @ Western Carolina (7-8, 2-1) 4:30PM: The Catamounts will look to rebound after a tough loss in Chattanooga, a game which they couldn't score down the stretch. Western will have to improve on that if they want to come out on top against Wofford, who is riding a emotional win over College of Charleston. Wofford dominated that game at home. However, this isn't home for the Terriers. It's the Ramsey Center. A place were WCU does not lose often (winners of 27 of its last 31 conference games). I expect WCU to come out and play blow for blow with Wofford and, with an inspired home crowd in attendance, pull off the victory.
Result: WCU 72 Wofford 67

*Appalachian State (6-7, 2-1) @ Chattanooga (7-9, 1-2) 7PM: The Mountaineers survived a scare down in Birmingham on Thursday and if they expect to win in Chattanooga they have to play better. Chattanooga looked good in a quality home win over WCU. I see Keegan Bell getting the ball to his teammates and the Mocs shooting well in McKenzie Arena. Chattanooga has favorable match-ups.
Result: Chatt 73 App St 60

*Samford (3-10, 0-2) @ Citadel (3-11, 0-3) 7:05PM: In a way Samford and Citadel will be looking in the mirror when they take the court Saturday night. Both teams have no conference wins, only three wins, and double digit losses. In a battle of bottom-dwellers the only way to decide who wins this game is basically who plays the best (or plays less terrible than the other). I see Citadel notching their first conference win at home. Result: Citadel 62 Samford 55
